ASUS is Southeast Asia's second biggest notebook brand: IDC

Notebook vendor ASUS has become Southeast Asia's second biggest notebook brands with 145 percent growth rate during 2011 and continued expansion for 12 consecutive quarters, according to analyst firm IDC rankings.

ASUS regional director for Southeast Asia, Rex Lee, speaking on 20 March 2012, welcomed the recognition and said the company's products received some 3,886 awards in 2011 alone.

"ASUS attributes its success to the high quality and reliability of its products," said Lee, adding that this was backed by the findings of US independent warranty service provider SquareTrade, which conducted a study of 30,000 notebooks and concluded that ASUS maintained the lowest product failure rate over a three-year product lifespan.

He said ASUS products have won the 2012 iF Design Awards, including for ZENBOOK, the bestselling Ultrabook on the market.

"ASUS will unveil new portable PC products for Southeast Asia markets in May, including the PadFone, which proved to be a major attraction at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona," said Lee.
