Acer Aspire E-15 review: This laptop packs solid performance, but at too high a price

Hayden Dingman | Aug. 18, 2015
The Acer Aspire E-15 isn't a bad machine, but it's a bit of an also-ran—there are cheaper machines with better specs and performance.

One note of contention: Like many of the laptops here, Acer opted to include McAfee for your antivirus needs. I do not think McAfee is a good antivirus program--not least because it nags you incessantly while hogging your (already limited) performance. Get something better.

The verdict

Don't get me wrong: The Acer Aspire E-15 is a good machine. It performs better than 80 percent of the pack in this review round-up, it turned in respectable benchmarks, it's solidly constructed, and it has a boatload of storage if that's what you need.

But it's playing second fiddle to the Toshiba C55-C in practically every respect. Nothing in particular stands out about the E-15 in comparison to Toshiba's machine, so there's no sense in opting for Acer's laptop--especially since you can generally find the C55-C for less money
