To mark Malaysia's National Day (Merdeka 2015), Lazada, foodpanda, Zalora, Uber and HappyFresh have joined together under a 'UnitySale' banner to offer up to 94 percent in product discounts and more than 20,000 online deals to run from 26th August to 1st September, 2015.
The five eCommerce firms said the UnitySale is a contribution toward Malaysia's Independence Day celebrations (August 31st).
"The #Unitysale is our gift to Malaysians who are celebrating an important milestone - the independence of this country. We are proud to lead this initiative alongside notable eCommerce businesses in Malaysia. This first ever Unitysale will offer deals up to 94 percent discount on products and special promotions for purchases made using the Lazada mobile app. We are excited to join forces with our partners in the industry to offer Malaysians fantastic deals, as we all support the country's aspirations as part of the Digital Malaysia initiative," said Hans-Peter Ressel, chief executive officer, Lazada Malaysia.
Ressel said the Unitysale campaign was an initiative to leverage Malaysia's rising number of internet users, which currently stands at 20 million. According to GlobalWebIndex, Q4 2014, more than 66 percent of Malaysia's population shop online and has seen a rapid increase in the last two years with an increasing use of mobile devices.
"Our vision is to strengthen the eCommerce ecosystem and what better way than to come together with the biggest players in the industry and celebrate unity in conjunction with National Day," added Luca Barberis, managing director, Zalora Malaysia.
Barberis said that ecommerce was increasing rapidly as Malaysians hunt for lower prices, and also enjoyed the convenience, faster shipping and wider selection of products and services.

The combination of products, services, food and beverage options, fresh produce and transport, will make the Unitysale a complete online and offline bridge for the discerning Malaysian consumer, said the partners.
