Digital business solutions provider, ePLDT, on Friday (17 February 2016), inaugurated its ninth VITRO data centre, located in Clark, Pampanga to support the burgeoning businesses in Luzon.
The five-storey facility was soft launched and opened last January. It offers colocation, hosting, and business continuity solutions, particularly for IT- BPO (business process outsourcing), and banking and finance industries. It also has a capacity of 1,515 racks, and an allotted space of 2,845 square metres for colocation.
"Many companies in various sectors have been looking to expand their operations north of Manila, and VITRO Clark provides them with the best support facility to grow their presence in the region," said Nerisse Ramos, Chief Operating Officer of ePLDT Group, at a media briefing.
The new facility was established from ground up and built based on the seismic zone 4 standards, which means it can withstand earthquakes up to magnitude 8 on the Richter scale. It also features 11 layers of physical security including vein-scanning biometric devices.
In addition, the VITRO Clark data centre is Rated-3 on the TIA-942 standards. The certification is given to data centres that are concurrently maintainable in design, which means every capacity component in the distribution path can be removed, replaced, serviced on a planned basis without disrupting the end-users' ICT capabilities.
The VITRO Clark is the second data centre that ePLDT launched last week. The company introduced its eighth data centre in Davao last Monday (13 February 2017).
"We want to ensure that enterprises, wherever they are in the country, are able to tap into global quality data centre services for their businesses," said Eric Alberto, Group President and CEO of ePLDT, and Chief Revenue Officer of PLDT.
"Before the end of the year we shall, hopefully, launch our 10th data centre, [which is the second of such facility] in Cebu," he added.
