HP expands its compute offerings and refreshes its storage portfolio

Nurdianah Md Nur | Dec. 22, 2014
The new solutions will help businesses increase efficiency and performance, while reducing complexity.

The new HP 3PAR StoreServ 7440c Converged Flash Array transcends traditional storage categorisation, helps customers cut storage rack space requirements by 19 times and reduce costs by 8 times. It provides unified access, 3.5 Petabytes usable capacity, all-flash optimised performance over 900,000 IOPs, tier-1 resiliency, and 16Gb Fibre Channel connectivity. It can also be used as an all-flash array or as a combination of flash and spinning media to lower costs. According to HP, the spinning media support allows customers to consolidate more applications and lower costs over time by moving less critical data off of all-flash capacity.

To deliver greater protection, HP has equipped all 3PAR StoreServ systems with its StoreOnce Recovery Manager Central (RMC) software. The software, which allows direct backup from primary storage to secondary storage for backups on virtual machines, will deliver 17 times faster data protection than traditional backup, said HP.
