China develops its first homegrown server amid cybersecurity concerns

A Chinese company has developed the country's first homegrown servers, built entirely out of domestic technologies including a processor from local chip maker Loongson Technology.

The move raises as many questions as it answers: "Does Dawning have the business volume to sustain the investment or is this something the Chinese government is going to support?" he asked. "Is this more about whipping up nationalist feelings for a server platform?"
