Signs deal in Malaysia with HP and Oracle Platinum partner Stone Apple Solutions

KUALA LUMPUR, 24 NOVEMBER 2010 -- To provider higher levels of customer service and fuel business growth, Asian Finance Bank [AFB] has signed with technology companies HP and Stone Apple Solutions in Malaysia.

AFB chief executive officer, Datuk Mohamed Azahari Kamil, said the move was part of the company's strategy to pursue business excellence and new markets for global investment opportunities.

"AFB is looking at establishing a single point of accountability and contact for its financial related operations," said Mohamed Azahari. "The new Oracle Financial Management and Business Intelligence solution running on HP Integrity Servers will allow the bank to centralise and automate its back-office operations and strengthen reporting functions in driving well-informed decision-making results. AFB will also be able to enhance budgetary control and planning, improve performance monitoring and analysis, as well as increase data integrity and consistency of information."

"The company deals with a lot of high value transactions and we need to ensure high availability and performance at all times," he said. "This investment allows us to extend better service to our customers and scale up for business expansion."

"Together, HP and Stone Apple provided us with a comprehensive mission-critical solution," he said. "This will minimise the implementation and migration risk. In fact, HP has been our infrastructure service provider since the beginning. We chose HP and Stone Apple Solutions because they offer us the fundamental support our business requires to move forward in this competitive space."

Asian Finance Bank (AFB), a full-fledged Islamic bank, which was incorporated on 28 November 2005, is backed by a consortium of shareholders from leading Middle Eastern financial institutions.

Formed in 2009, Oracle Platinum partner Stone Apple Solutions specialises in software and systems integration services for customers across industry verticals, and has a team of more than 350 consultants.

  Faster time to market

Mohamed Azahari said this new move included the implementation of the Oracle Financial Accounting application by Stone Apple and integrating it with AFB's core banking and treasury system. "The application will be powered by HP's Integrity BL860c i2, a market-leading Unix blade server for mission-critical IT environments."

"AFB wanted to achieve faster time to market for new innovative products and services," said HP Malaysia managing director, TF Chong. "The new mission critical system, architected on HP's Converged Infrastructure, can be adapted to support AFB's growing business needs while reducing management overheads. This flexibility will support AFB's development of new services for its customers while freeing IT staff to focus on innovation."

"As AFB embarks on this transition, there are opportunities to significantly reduce the risks and costs by implementing a suite of applications designed, engineered and built to work as a platform to deliver business outcomes," said Stone Apple senior vice president, Ravi Koka.
