Customer maturity: The IT infrastructure of many organisations is not cloud-ready. Before they can embark on DRaaS, they must first enable their existing IT infrastructure to support cloud environments. This typically takes two to three years depending on their size and complexity.
Legacy systems: Many organisations are still dependent on legacy applications and infrastructure, which support their critical business functions and processes. A move from such legacy systems require buy-ins from the top management and may also lead to business impact in terms of planned downtimes.
To summarise, we envision that pure cloud-based DR solutions may not be able to replace the traditional DR solutions completely, in the short to medium term.
