Veeam posts ‘strong’ Q2 revenue growth in Asia

Demand for new data protection approach in virtualisation, cloud services drives growth.

Virtualisation solutions provider Veeam Software reported growth in Singapore and its Asia Pacific operations for the second quarter of 2013.

From April to June of this year, the company’s total bookings revenue in Singapore increased 86 percent from the same period in 2012. New licence bookings revenue also rose 93 percent in the second quarter. 

In Asia Pacific, Veeam reported 78 percent year-on-year growth in total bookings revenue, while new licence bookings revenue jumped 94 percent.

Veeam attributed its robust performance to the demand for virtualisation and cloud-based services. The company said that in Pan-Singapore, it accommodated 544 customers as a result of 41 percent growth of new customers in the second quarter compared to the same period last year.  

At the global level, Veeam attracted 73,000 customers in the second quarter of 2013. It also added more than four million Virtual Machines (VMs) under its protection. 

To address the issue of enhancing modern data protection, Veeam announced the general availability of Veeam Backup & Replication version 7. Key features include the multi-tiered data protection capabilities to provide an efficient option for online backup and data recovery. Veeam said this can be achieved regardless of the location and scenario. 

Don Williams, Veeam regional director, APAC, said that in response to customer requests, Veeam Backup & Replication version 7 will include two “disruptive” innovations, seven “market leading” new features and more than 50 other enhancements.  

“As organisations continue to embrace virtualisation technologies, disaster recovery and business continuity remain key concerns for organisations,” said Williams. He added that across the region, the company saw an increase of 58 percent in new net customers compared to the same period last year.
