Malaysia's impetus towards a robust digital economy by 2020 combined with the increasing consumption of online and mobile experiences by Malaysians, present huge potential for the market.
For example, based on a Google-sponsored TNS study, Malaysia is one of five countries in Asia where smartphone usage to access the Internet trumps PCs (the percentage of smartphone to PC use stands 51 percent to 39 percent). Malaysia also led the world in terms of using the mobile Internet: 35 percent of users exclusively use smartphones as the only means to access to Internet. Also, 42 percent of Malaysian smartphone users used their phones at some stage in the buying process of the last item they bought, the highest rates in the world - ahead of China at 33 percent and well ahead of the United States at 21 percent.
