Cloud back-up technologies have been added to the free Spiceworks IT management platform.
The move will see 2.4 million Spiceworks users being able to access back-up systems from Mozy, an EMC company. Close integration will enable companies to be able to monitor their data back-up Mozy accounts from Spiceworks as a single interface.
IT pros will be able to understand when the last backup was completed or if there was an error in the last backup process. They will also be able to see which devices on their network are being protected, and assess the storage quota for each device so they can reallocate or purchase additional capacity from Mozy.
In addition, they can receive alerts in the Spiceworks Cloud Services Dashboard or via email when storage capacity is running low.

Current and prospective Mozy customers can access the Mozy interface for free by downloading or updating their Spiceworks application to the latest version 6.2.
