Singapore companies adopt hybrid cloud

Hybrid cloud gives them a competitive edge over rivals, says Avanade.

Hybrid cloud gives a competitive edge to 80 per cent of C-level executives in Singapore, according to a new global survey results released by Avanade.

More than 88 per cent of these executives in Singapore said this technology will help their business grow.

Report predicts more than half of applications and services in Singapore companies will be deployed in a hybrid cloud environment within an average of one year.

87 per cent of companies said that implementing a hybrid cloud strategy will be one of their biggest areas of focus in 2015.

"Hybrid cloud has been identified by Singapore as a crucial step for companies looking to evolve their deployment models," said Kevin Wo, Avanade senior vice president and general manager ASEAN. "Our research shows Singapore companies already understand the value of hybrid cloud, and are keen to reap its benefits, delivering strategic value to the business."

No strategy in place

Although Singapore companies agree that hybrid cloud adoption is important, 67 per cent do not have a hybrid cloud strategy for their organisations.

Hybrid cloud solutions deliver a range of benefits such as integrating private and public clouds, and sharing workload on multiple public clouds. Despite this awareness, only 20 per cent of respondents are able to identify the full range of benefits afforded by these solutions.

68 per cent of companies use the cloud infrastructure to run existing applications.

63 per cent of companies said security and privacy issues are the main concerns for hybrid cloud implementation. 55 per cent find public cloud solutions to be more secure than they were three years ago.

Despite all these concerns, organizations are optimistic about the hybrid cloud and its ability to give them a competitive edge.

"Hybrid cloud gives companies the speed and flexibility they need to transform into digital businesses and enables them to focus on driving growth and outperforming their competitors," added Wo.
