o I strongly believe that AEC and GST both bring unique opportunities for Malaysian businesses to transform themselves. I expect focused investments in technology and talent from all industries as they strive to remain relevant in a more competitive regional landscape. Businesses will continue to look for simplicity and cost efficiency and as the same time, aggressively demand their IT investments to truly impact business profitability.
o With the Digital Malaysia program getting strengthened in 2014, I expect the ICT ecosystem to further enable Enterprise 4.0 in Malaysia as social, cloud, mobility, and big data become the new normal in order to succeed in the Third Platform world.
- Mobile retail for mobile consumers
o As the spending power of Malaysian consumers and the impact of retail on the country's economy continue to grow, catching consumers anywhere anytime will become a reality - a business mandate. Retailers who can adapt and take their services wherever the consumer is physically or virtually located, will be sure to build a lasting relationship and loyalty among them - and impact bottom lines.
I believe that businesses will finally adopt the technology to build these real time relationships in order to compete and win. This will mean means vast streams of data that will need to be processed in real time ... driving a massive increase in the adoption of technologies such as in-memory databases and flash storage
- The role of youth - the process will be two way
o The Government recently rolled out the Big Data Framework and the focus on skill development has been more than encouraging. I believe 2015 will see even more industry-academia partnerships as industry skills become more and more important for the greater good of the economy..
