IT managed services reseller, Viatek, has acquired CN Group in a bid to boost its cloud offerings and expand IT managed services.
The acquisition of the CN Group (CN) of companies includes Computer Networks, the technology, infrastructure and hosting division and Consulting Networks, the business, applications and infrastructure consulting division. Viatek, which has 300 staff across Victoria and NSW, will merge CN into its current business. This is the largest of three acquisitions made by Viatek in the last 18 months.
Viatek chief executive officer, Michael Doery, said the acquisition was a key part of its expansion plans, and the core component to the company's strategy of building a sustainable, long term Cloud-based business across a number of market segments including enterprise, government and small business.
"The diversification and delivery of new technologies means we have to be able to adapt our business model not only to suit the market conditions, but to add real value to our customers across a number of different platforms," he said.
"Customers are demanding access to cloud-based applications and services, and don't necessarily want to use two or three different providers.
"It made sense for us to look for complementary acquisitions to help us grow and expand our business in order to satisfy that demand, and CN is a perfect fit."
Viatek provides IT print management services, business process automation, communications services and managed IT services, and is a grouping of seven Fuji-Xerox dealers.
With 20 locally managed offices around NSW and Victoria, the company can now introduce a range of Cloud-based IT solutions to small and medium enterprises in regional centres, according to a company statement.
The acquisition also significantly boosts the company's expansion into the large enterprise and government sectors, with the CN business bringing consulting expertise and core IT services skills to the table.
CN is a certified SAP Hosting, Cloud and Services partner; a Netsuite Solution Provider partner; as well as a Telstra Enterprise and Government partner.
The company's robust enterprise-grade platform-as-a-service solutions include pay-per-use systems such as desktop-as-a-service, Cloud production systems, Cloud fast-start development environments, and cloud prototype environments.
The CN Group chief executive officer, Brian Pereira, said consolidation within the Cloud provider segment is inevitable.
"Customers recognize that they don't need to own their IT infrastructure any longer, whether it's servers and applications, or printers and communications devices. They will look to providers who can provide a range of infrastructure and services, delivered via the Cloud cost effectively," he said.
"Viatek's acquisition of CN means that both SMEs is regional Australia, as well as large enterprises and government can benefit from a broad range of expertise that both companies combined can now provide."
