Trend Micro launches new security software optimised for social networking use

Cloud security company Trend Micro today launched the 2013 edition of its Titanium line of security software. 

The security software will identify potential malicious links while on social networking sites and scan URLs for possible danger, according to the announcement.

The 2013 edition includes a Facebook Privacy Scanner to prevent excessive leakage of personal data.

"Privacy is a major concern as cyber criminals are scoping out the privacy of our online identities in new and more interesting ways. It is imperative for consumers in Singapore to stay vigilant and protected," said regional director for digital marketing and consumer business at Trend Micro Terrence Tang.

Titanium 2013, according to Trend Micro, will protect users when using eight social networking sites which include Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn.

The software is compatible on Mac, Windows and Android devices (including Mountain Lion and Windows 8 operating system). For iOS devices a separate SmartSurf app is available for download on the iTunes store. 

The features of the software include parental controls, mobile security, an app for password storage and generation, 5GB of cloud storage and Trend Micro Vault to keep sensitive documents safe.

Titanium 2013 costs S$99 (US$80) for use on three devices, S$159 (US$129) for five devices and S$39 (US$32) for a single device.
