How cloudy will APAC organisations be in 2017?

Adrian M. Reodique | Jan. 9, 2017
IT experts from Dell EMC, SAP, Nimble Storage, and HPE highlight last year's cloud trends, and the things businesses should expect in 2017.

"Perhaps most of all, we will see an explosion of next-generation application add-ons leveraging the combination of Big Data and machine learning techniques, enhancing productivity and improving decision making across many industries," he added.

Fewer partners
Pozniak believe businesses will continue to reduce the number of traditional IT vendors they work with to ensure greater accountability and levels of service, but will increase the number of cloud providers.

"This only means that complexity will increase as businesses will then manage multi-verses, which is multiple clouds from multiple cloud vendors," he explained.

Prakash said companies will also closely examine their requirements for cloud infrastructures. The new year will thus bring more options for hybrid-friendly solutions that will enable organisations to operate a single IT environment on-premises, which supports both traditional applications and private clouds on shared infrastructure.

"This integration enables IT operators to shift resources in minutes, making it easier for enterprises to migrate from traditional to hybrid IT. This results in lower OPEX through better management automation and reduced CAPEX through improved infrastructure utilisation," he concluded.
