Forecast 2013: Trends and Industry Predictions

Phoebe Magdirila | Jan. 25, 2013
In the technology arena, constant change is always the name of the game. Businesses welcome innovations and willfully shift their ways of working and lifestyle in exchange of efficiency and productivity. They, too, are geared with a purchasing power and perpetual eagerness to acquire new devices and utilize better software solutions. These prove, without a doubt, that we are in a digital age, and IT forms a crucial part of any individual's way of living or a business' operations.

SAP Globalization Services Senior Product Manager, Dr. Alexander Davidenkoff, sees that companies start to understand "the benefits of being efficient, saving a lot of cost, and better usage of their computing system."

Evidently, all these new trends bring about data overflow within enterprises which causes them to continue in taking a closer look on security. "The increasing exposure of information within rapidly-expanding IT infrastructures, application portfolios and cloud environments open organizations up to new forms of security risk," says Latinazo.

"It should come as no surprise that mobile platforms and cloud services will be likely targets for attacks and breaches in 2013," warns Robles. "Nations or organized groups of individuals will continue to use cyber tactics in an attempt to damage or destroy the secure information or funds of its targets."

This makes enterprises "more concerned about security as they continue to put more of their valuable data in the cloud and in their devices," furthers Trend Micro Country Sales Manager, Jefferson Lat.

Symantec's Robles also assures that as security solutions providers, they are doing their part for businesses to have the ability of utilizing resources without risks. In the coming year, "IT organizations will have better visibility, control and compliance across their private and public clouds," he says.
