VMware has extended its technology partnership with F5 networks to make BIG-IP application services available for VMware VCloud Hybrid Service.
Enterprise customers can now extend the same application delivery services they use in the data centre into the cloud.
Specifically, global application availability, automation, and cloud bursting are enhanced with F5 and VMware.
This bolsters disaster recovery and business continuity efforts.
F5 now offers certified capabilities within vCloud Hybrid Service environments. VMware vice president application services, Ajay Patel, said maintaining application availability and performance while moving workloads to the cloud was key for a seamless user experience across a hybrid environment," he said.
"With F5's BIG-IP Global Traffic Manager validated in vCloud Hybrid Service, our customers can seamlessly manage application availability, performance and failover." According to a company statement, IT organisations have faced challenges around scaling applications and associated performance to the cloud without sacrificing availability or user experience.
"Using F5 BIG-IP Global Traffic Manager, customers can route traffic across hybrid, on-premises, and cloud environments around the globe to keep pace with changing network conditions and user volumes for business needs," according to a company statement. F5 vice president of business development, Calvin Rowland, said by making his company's solutions available for the VMware vCloud Hybrid Service, he was offering customers a way to elegantly combine a comprehensive set of Software Defined Application Services that go far beyond just basic load balancing.
