The new products will help enterprises reduce the cost of running their existing application estate so that they are able to further invest in new applications to meet the needs of the third platform.

The new OneFS 7.1.1 operating system is the building block for Isilon scale-out NAS that supports flash-based cache SmartFlash. It is also able to scale up to 1PB in a single cluster, thus reducing latency time and the time taken for data retrieval, said EMC.

Aimed at industries requiring high transactional workloads such as media, entertainment and financial services, the Isilon S210 delivers up to 3.75 million IOPS, claimed EMC. The Isilon X410, on the other hand, caters to firms looking for storage that supports Hadoop analytics and/or high performance computing. It offers 70 percent increase throughput at 33 percent less $/MBPS, stated EMC.

"The new EMC Isilon solutions are designed to help our customers address the challenge of growth of unstructured data while driving faster time to results and reducing cost," said Kirch.
