Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited (Cyberport), a well-known creative digital community and ICT hub in Hong Kong, has recently set up and launched a private cloud with the help of Dimension Data.
A spokesperson of the global ICT solutions and services provider said it was the systems integrator chosen by Cyberport for this project and it also designed and deployed a 'community cloud' which is integrated with Dimension Data's Managed Cloud PlatformTM (MCP).
According to a statement by Dimension Data, Cyberport's Community Cloud is a pioneering, first-of-its-kind concept in which clients receive both commercial office space at Cyberport and centralised, cloud-hosted IT resources in a single, ready-to-go package.
Cyberport's Community Cloud is expected to benefit companies of all sizes, particularly start-ups or smaller firms with limited in-house IT resources.
"It's an honour to be working with Cyberport on their innovative community cloud platform," said Francis Pang, General Manager, Dimension Data Hong Kong. "I believe this concept will drive the development of Hong Kong's ICT industry. By combining the availability, flexibility and scalability of a ready-to-use hybrid cloud infrastructure with physical office space in a single package, Cyberport has created a solution that is ideal for ICT industry start-ups and entrepreneurs."
A Dimension Data spokesperson said that the new service enabled clients to access best-in-class storage, networking, compute and security offerings within minutes. IT resources are provided to clients as a service. Among the other benefits of using centralised, cloud-hosted IT resources is the guaranteed 99.9% uptime service level agreement, along with 24/7 phone support.
