- Regular Third-party Assessments - to drive transparency and trust
In developing security standards for virtualisation and cloud security, Trend Micro has worked with several leading government bodies -both as a member and a consultant. These include the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SITF), Information Technology Protection Agency (IPA) of Japan, Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) and Commission on the Leadership Opportunity in U.S. Deployment of the Cloud (CLOUD2) among others. Adhering to these standards can also be seen as key imperatives in determining success.
The key mantra before deciding on any new technology deployment is for the technology to be cost-effective that can enable you to do more with less. Unfortunately, the same technologies often open doors to both external and internal threats. What one needs is smart data-centric protection that can be used across physical, virtual and cloud environments to help organisations and citizenry against multi-vector threats especially as they transition into the cloud.
The right balance between technology, supporting tools and strong regulatory framework can allow cloud computing to be used in an efficient manner that inspires innovation. It may be the answer for businesses and governments in Asia to be seen as more transparent, forward looking and helping steer growth that is sustainable in the long term.
