Sydney will be the first of Dimension Data's Managed Cloud Platform locations to roll out Cloud Backup.
Cloud Backup is an optional backup and restore service available as an add-on to Dimension Data's enterprise-class public, private and hosted private Compute-as-a-Service (CaaS) offerings. Dimension Data now offers three classes of Cloud Backup.
It addresses needs for simple file and folder backup, as well as full application, system and file backup and restore.
Dimension Data Cloud services general manager, David Hanrahan, said Australia was experiencing tremendous growth in cloud services, making the need for Cloud Backup more critical.
"Offering integrated Cloud Backup further differentiates Dimension Data and enables our clients to reliably and cost-effectively outsource their strategic backup requirements using our pay-as-you-go model," he said. Dimension Data has also added to its MCP offerings this year with tiered storage providing businesses with three choices to right size their storage, and server Anti-Affinity for high availability and resiliency of mission critical workloads.
The group recently announced it will add four new MCPs to its footprint in Ashburn, Virginia; Melbourne, Australia; London, UK; and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Clients can set up Cloud Backup by using Dimension Data's CloudControl self-service Web portal or application programming interface (API).
Cloud Backup will also be deployed in the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East and Africa.
