Blue Coat's solution allows customers to do that by customising the social networking solution. Customers can continue to leverage social media platforms with control and this can be done across all devices.
We have worked with organisations to allow controlled access to social media applications. For example, the company allows employees to go on Facebook on the corporate network but blocked selected applications. Employees can still view updates on their news feed but they will not be able to upload posts or photos while on the company's network.
Comms of the future
Blue Coat's Unified Security solution also includes the new Blue Coat Mobile Device Security service which extends the same protection and control to mobile devices.
As the Internet has increasingly become the enterprise network, businesses are struggling to extend their security perimeter to anyone, anywhere on any device. According to the Global Mobility Study conducted by IDG Research Service, 71 percent of employees report that they are accessing the corporate network with personal-owned devices today. Businesses will be looking to embrace mobile devices on the corporate network to improve workforce productivity, give employees greater flexibility in their jobs and enable a closer working relationship with partners or customers.
Blue Coat's solution simplifies the security and reporting for BYOD devices so that customers can embrace BYOD without adding cost and complexity to their network. It is the only solution in the industry that uses the same threat protection and policy control infrastructure across on-premise appliances, virtual appliances and a cloud-based service, giving enterprises unprecedented flexibility and reach in their security deployment.
We understand that pharmaceutical companies are now issuing tablets to their sales representatives. They can easily update the drug information and the sales representatives are equipped with the latest information for their sales call. Blue Coat's solution will be able to easily extend protection to these mobile devices.
