What are the costs involved in adopting SSD solutions?
Historically, there was a significant price delta between HDD and SDDs. That cost gap continues to narrow, but that's not the only cost factor IT professionals are considering. They're looking at total cost of ownership, or TCO - that is, the longevity of their storage devices' reliability and performance trade-offs, power and cooling savings, and infrastructure footprint reduction.
What is your company's contribution to this industry?
sTec is a pioneer in solid-state storage - first in the consumer and small-business markets, then in enterprise-class storage solutions, which many other companies have since emulated. Our solid-state storage solutions are used in the largest data centres around the world. Furthermore, sTec now has one of the broadest solid-state drive and software solutions portfolios in the industry - SSDs with a wide range of capacities and the industry's most-demanded interfaces, as well as performance-enhancing caching software and our recently introduced s3000 all-flash storage appliance that can scale out to as much as 768 terabytes.
What are your future plans for Asia in regards to business expansion?
We've recently expanded our Asia presence with the addition of an APAC and Japan regional senior vice president, as well as managing directors for Japan and India. We already have a large R&D presence in Malaysia, Taiwan and India with sales support for China, India, Japan, Malaysia and Taiwan. Additionally, sTec has added several dozen specialists in vertical markets who operate worldwide, so data centre customers in the region can gain from that extensive expertise.
