Malaysian professional services firm chooses Dimension Data to deliver 'zero downtime' upgrade

NTT Group ICT solutions and services company Dimension Data has been appointed to manage a storage upgrade by a major professional services firm, which will deliver zero planned and unplanned downtime.
 
Speaking about the project, Dimension Data Malaysia managing director Henrick Choo said the client company had asked for 'a new robust storage platform capable of supporting multiple solutions, applications and a scalable storage environment, which can improve agility and eliminate downtime risk.'
 
Under the five-year contract, the implementation of a modular, scalable and robust storage platform should not only improve the organisation's IT infrastructure agility but also deliver "zero planned and unplanned downtime for its business operations in eight offices across the country."

The upgrade will help the professional services firm in meeting its internal on service-level demands including delivering measurable value to the particular demands of increasingly intra-regional and fast growing organisations in the private and public sector.

 It was therefore crucial for the organisation to ensure that its IT infrastructure can effectively support operations with minimal disruptions, he said.
 
Dimension Data addressed the client's needs by offering a scalable storage platform that was able to support Microsoft solutions and applications (such as Hyper-V, Exchange and SQL), while eliminating any downtime risk. With the implementation of NetApp's Clustered Data ONTAP Operating System solution, Dimension Data is able to assure the client's business continuity and optimal network performance.
 
This on-premise solution now allows the client to move data volumes between controllers on the fly, which eliminates downtime during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, he said. The new upgrade has also been instrumental in delivering an improved customer experience, while simplifying client's overall storage environment with proven operational efficiency and minimum footprint on disks.
