U Mobile launches mobile number portability in Malaysia

Prepaid and postpaid subscribers can switch to U Mobile

KUALA LUMPUR, 20 OCTOBER 2008 - Malaysian mobile services provider U Mobile Sdn Bhd has launched a Mobile Number Portability (MNP) promotion that allows mobile phone users to switch their mobile numbers its prepaid services at no extra cost.

U Mobile's MNP Promotion makes it easy for mobile phone users to switch to any of our service plans, at no extra cost, and enjoy the many benefits we are offering as a dynamic service provider that continuously listens to its customers and is committed to meeting their needs. said U Mobile's chief executive officer, Oh-Kwang Jin.

MNP allows both prepaid and postpaid subscribers to switch to a preferred mobile service provider, while keeping their existing mobile phone number.

Freedom of choice for mobile phone users

The U Mobile 018 Prepaid plan allows mobile phone users to pay for only what they use. Subscribers enjoy per second billing for video calls and voice calls, Oh said. Under U Mobile's MNP Promotion (www.u.com.my), both prepaid and postpaid subscribers of other mobile service providers can switch to U Mobile's rate plans with no processing fee, as well as enjoy RM10 (US$2.84) credited to their new account.

Oh added that U Mobile would give a free U Mobile 018 Prepaid Starter Pack with RM10 top-up credit, to pre-paid and post-paid subscribers who are unsuccessful in their applications to switch to U Mobile.
