Tech boosts the fan experience at U.S. Bank Stadium

Minnesota Vikings aim to deliver content and services to fans, from their driveways to their stadium seats

The architects looked to Nordic vernacular architecture, Minnesota culture, and local environmental conditions for their design inspiration. For example, the stadium’s dramatically sloped roof is designed to shed snow, similar to traditional Nordic roof structures. The overall angular volume of the stadium is reminiscent of the jagged geometry of ice flows colliding on frozen lakes.

"People say this building looks like a ship. We like that. People say this building looks like an ice shard. We like that,” said Bryan Trubey, EVP and director of sports and entertainment at HKS Architects. "That means that we've been successful at building a building that actually creates an appropriate response for how unique this environment really is."
