Resumes fibre installation, repair work as haze conditions improve

With the haze conditions improving in Singapore, OpenNet's Key Sub-contractor (KSC) has lifted the temporary suspension of fibre installation and repair work issued on the afternoon of 21 June 2013.

The suspension of work was a precautionary step taken to safeguard the health of the KSC's workers, OpenNet had said in a statement.

All work resumed the same day as the smog cleared later in the afternoon.

OpenNet said it will continue to monitor the situation together with its KSC and may have to take future actions if the air quality reaches very hazardous levels again.

OpenNet is responsible for building, managing and operating the world's first nationwide all-optical fibre platform, which is the key foundation of Singapore's Next Gen NBN.
