FRAMINGHAM, 24 FEBRUARY 2011 - Just when you thought billionaire 20-something Mark Zuckerberg couldn't possibly get any more exposure, a new comic book has hit store shelves telling the real story of the Facebook founder's rise to glory.
"Mark Zuckerberg: Creator of Facebook," is a 48-page comic book from Bluewater Productions that presents the Facebook CEO in a much better light than the Academy Award-nominated "The Social Network" does.
This is the same comic book publisher that has issued biographies of singer Justin Bieber, pundit Bill O'Reilly and race car driver Danica Patrick.
"This is a fascinating story," says Jerome Maida, a freelance journalist who wrote the book, which is illustrated by Sal Field. "I enjoyed researching it because it's extremely compelling. Think about it. Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire on the planet and created something that has already had a profound impact on the world. Yet hardly anyone knows much about him. It's amazing."
(Hardly knows anything about him? We're talking about the same guy who was named Time's Person of the Year, has been profiled on 60 Minutes, guest-starred on The Simpsons, made a cameo appearance on Saturday Night Live, and just dined with President Obama, right?)
Maida says the comic doesn't sugarcoat the Zuckerberg story, acknowledging that "Rightly or wrongly, Mark dealt harshly with some people on his way to where he is today." But he says the comic tries to put Zuckerberg's action in context.
A short animated film based on the comic is also in the works, according to Maida.
The comic, which sells for $7, is now available at comic book shops.
