Dimension Data China helped design and build a network infrastructure for Shanghai Electric's new office which was completed in July 2011.
Based on Cisco Unified Communications architecture, the solution is implemented and supported by Dimension Data's Project Management and Uptime services.
The new office for Shanghai Electric Group Company, an established provider of energy generating equipment in China, is equipped with state-of-the-art video conferencing, voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) and a new IP data systems.
These features have been added to support both the current and future business as well as operational requirements of Shanghai Electric.
"We worked closely with our client to identify and understand their business and technical challenges" said Francis Yip, general manager for Dimension Data China.
"It was established that the new system has to integrate seamlessly with business-critical applications the company plans to deploy, while achieving immediate and future cost saving targets. We then designed a network architecture blueprint that fulfilled these requirements by using the best technology available."
Improve network's manageability
Shanghai Electric was using an old PBX system before contracting Dimension Data and expects its new system to improve the network's manageability and expandability.
The new system is touted to improve the work productivity for Shanghai Electric's IT team.
As per the agreement, Dimension Data will also provide project management and design & consulting professional services to the client.
