edotco Malaysia (edotco) and  Digi Telecommunications  (Digi)  have signed a collaboration, which makes Digi  one  of  edotco's  preferred  partners  in  its telecommunications infrastructure services business.

Under the  agreement, Digi  will gain  access to edotco's  telecoms  infrastructure  footprint  of more than  3,600  sites  nationwide  and  new  built-to-suit  sites  to  speed up  Digi's  network  expansion and building of  a national 4G LTE network.

Digi chief executive officer Albern Murty said edotco  and  Digi  have  a  long  history  of  network  collaboration  since  2013,  with  a  joint  strong aspiration  towards  maximising  operational  synergies.

edotco will deliver both co-location and build-to-suit sites, over a period of five years, which will give Digi the advantage to further strengthen its network footprint and service quality nationwide.

Murty added that the  partnership  between  edotco  Malaysia  and  Digi also indicated  the  trend  of   telecoms  infrastructure  collaboration  for  data  network as   the  most  sustainable model for the telecoms market.

"This  collaboration  is  an  extension  of  our  commitment  to strengthen  our  network  position  to  bring  quality  internet  experience  to  more  customers  in  more areas  in  Malaysia," he said.  "We  are  pleased  to  build  on  our  partnership  with  edotco,  and  we  look  forward towards realising  the full potential of this collaboration."

edotco Group chief executive officer Suresh Sidhu said: "This agreement marks a significant milestone in strengthening our relationship and deepening our collaboration with Digi and the Telenor Group. At edotco  we  believe  infrastructure  sharing  and  collaboration  will  continue  to  increase  in  both Malaysia  and  the  region,  and  we  are  proud  to  have  Digi  as  one  of  our  pioneer  partner  in  this venture."

Signing  on  behalf  of  the  respective  companies  were  Kesavan  Sivabalan,  chief  network  officer  of Digi and Hadi Helmi, managing director of edotco Malaysia.
