New products, enhancements are for campus LANs.

Brocade Communications Systems Inc. has announced new switches and software defined networking (SDN) enhancements for campus local area networks (LANs).

A press statement by the San Jose, California-based vendor of networking products said these consist of the following: Brocade ICX 7250 switch, Switch Port Extender and extended Open Flow 1.3 support to Brocade ICX 7450 and 7750 switches.

The press statement said the new switches and SDN enhancements will enable organizations to maintain high performance and scalable campus LAN infrastructure in the wake of the proliferation of mobile devices, rich media and insatiable user expectations.

It claimed the Brocade ICX 7250 switch delivers the industry's highest 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) in its class.

On the other hand, the Switch Port Extender has been designed to simplify network deployment and ongoing maintenance.

Extend OpenFlow 1.3 support to Brocade ICX 7450 and 7750 switches enables SDN solutions in  LAN architectures, according to the press statement.
