The spikes in voter registration generally lasted through that weekend.

In Rhode Island, more than a third of the users of its online registration system, which went live on Aug. 1, came during the last week in September, according to the center.

In Colorado, there were 2,996 online voter registrations on Sept. 22, but that number jumped to 20,172 the following day, when Facebook's vote registration drive kicked off. In Alabama, online registrants went from 896 on Sept. 22 to 20,246 on Sept. 23.

Pennsylvania, a battleground state, had its online registrations jump from 5,432 to 21,013 on the same days.

Georgia, which also largely credited Facebook, reported a 2,255% increase in visits to its online voter registration system on Sept. 23 compared to registrations on the same day the year before. This is the first year that Georgia residents can register to vote or update their information online, via text, or by using a smartphone app.
