Online displays of public affection to take place in US this Valentine’s Day

McAfee releases results of survey on love, relationships and technology

Expect public displays of online affection among US  Netizens this February 14, Valentine's Day, and particularly on social media.

This was according to the US computer and network security solutions provider, McAfee Inc. as it announced results of its  2014 Love, Relationships &Technology Survey done last December 3 to 16.

A press statement by the Santa Clara, California-based vendor said it had done a total of 1519 online interviews among adults aged 18 to 54.

Age and Gender

Interviews among respondents were split evenly by age and gender and achieved geographic distribution according to the US census.

The survey indicated 91% of respondents had social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Of respondents who answered they would be celebrating Valentine's Day on social media, 76% said they plan to post messages to others.

At the same time,58 % plan to post photos.

The survey further showed more women (80% of female respondents) than men (72 % of male respondents) plan to celebrate love on social media this Valentine's day.

McAfee  commissioned the Futures Company to do the online interviews.
