Blue Coat Reporter provides intelligence about the usage of Web video on corporate networks.
Blue Coat Systems, a provider of Web security and WAN optimisation solutions, has included in version 9.3 of Blue Coat Reporter, a new tabular view of video usage information.
The new release provides organisations with an at-a-glance view of how employees or others on the network are using Web video.
This launch seems to be timed right as a Blue Coat estimate shows video to comprise an average of 20-50 percent of the traffic on a corporate network.
This percentage can grow more over the coming years and Blue Coat solutions can address the challenge of bandwidth demand through use of video caching for on-demand video and stream-splitting for live video.
Top 10 ranking
Available immediately, Blue Coat Reporter 9.3 provides top 10 rankings in the following areas: Websites accessed by employees to watch video; employees using the greatest amount of bandwidth for watching Web video; groups within the company using the greatest amount of Web video; and protocols or methods used to deliver Web video.
"Blue Coat uniquely solves the challenges companies face in delivering Web video and internal video over their existing networks," said Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president, Blue Coat Systems.
"The new Reporter product provides important insight on how employees are using Web video and enables companies to understand and address trends and patterns of behaviour. In addition, our next generation WAN optimisation solutions reduce the impact of video by a substantial factor while boosting the performance of business-critical applications."
Blue Coat is offering customers with previous versions of Reporter an option to upgrade free of charge if they have a current support plan.
