BBC offers magazine-like experience of its Twitter feed on Flipboard

Users can access news in an easily navigable and attractive format for iPad.

The BBC has become one of the first international news broadcasters to offer a magazine-like experience of its Twitter feed on Flipboard.

This announcement follows an agreement between BBC Worldwide and BBC Global News with Flipboard outside of the UK.

Flipboard is the social media magazine for iPad. The free Flipboard app pulls links from the @BBCWorld Twitter feed and lays them out like magazine articles, for this deal.

This capability enables users to access the BBC's international news services in an easily navigable and attractive format for iPad.

BBC notes that this new distribution channel for Web content will reach thousands of readers and offers a new format for people around the world to access its news.

Exciting new channel

The BBC international news section is automatically populated from the Web content that is tweeted from @BBCWorld Twitter account. Flipboard can recognise headlines, images, byline, captions, pull quotes, video and other elements and then flows them into the template.
