Verizon is now a founding member of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited's Hosting Services Ecosystem.
This membership will enable Verizon to provide low-latency connectivity and on-demand computing solutions and services for (Hong Kong Exchanges) HKEx's new data centre.
The next-generation facility is scheduled to be launched later this year and this ecosystem approach will allow market participants to subscribe to a comprehensive set of services offered by ecosystem members of HKEx's data centre.
Headquartered in New York, Verizon delivers broadband and other wireless and wireline communications services to consumer, business, government and wholesale customers.
Verizon's services will aid HKEx to achieve its aim to cultivate a financial services ecosystem consisting of exchange participants, information vendors, technology vendors and telecommunication providers as members.
Reliable execution of trades
Verizon's newly released low-latency financial service enables firms in New York and Chicago to execute trades in a secure and reliable manner.
Offering speeds as low as 14.5 milliseconds round trip, the Verizon Financial Network Premier Low-Latency Service is touted to offer one of the fastest speeds in the industry.
The service is ideal for global banks, hedge funds, market makers, pre- and post-trade service firms and money managers.
"We welcome Verizon into the Hosting Services Founding Member Program and look forward to the low-latency networking and financial communication capabilities that Verizon will bring to our Hosting Services Ecosystem," said Ryan Wuebbels, head of relationship management at HKEx.
