As part of the company's plans to prepare the adoption of the Internet of Things [IoT] and Big Data, energy management specialist Schneider Electric has announced the appointment of Serge Noraz as the company's IT Business vice president in Malaysia.
Schneider Electric Malaysia country president Soo Pow Leong said Noraz has 24 years' experience with Schneider Electric and will use his EMEA and Asia experience in energy management and IT solutions for data centres and cloud to drive the company's IT business in Malaysia.
"We are very pleased to welcome Serge to the Malaysian team," said Soo. "He is a respected figure in Schneider Electric and one of the most forward-thinking strategists in the industry."
"Big data is driving rapid cloud adoption and data centre optimisation and as Asia Pacific starts to drive global adoption of IoT, which will create a deluge of big data from everywhere, I am sure that Serge's proven track record will further enable Schneider Electric to help our customers address their business needs today while preparing for the fast approaching future," he said.
Before moving to Asia, Noraz was the Operations Vice President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Schneider Electric, in charge of order management and technical support for the IT Business unit. He also took part in setting-up a Joint Venture between Schneider Electric and Eltek, a datacentre systems provider from Norway.
"I am excited to join Schneider Electric Malaysia and I look forward to working with the local team to further improve the experience for our customers by bringing cutting-edge products and services to the local market," said Noraz.
"I also believe that the pool of professionals we have at Schneider Electric and the fast growing IT market in Malaysia will give me the opportunity to continue to learn and contribute to this emerging business environment," he said.
Serge Noraz is taking on the role held for four years by John Atherton, who is moving on to head the software and pre-fabricated data centre in Schneider Electric's IT Business Unit as the APJ regional director.
