Malaysia’s green data centre agenda needs more government subsidies

AvantiKumar | March 7, 2012
Malaysia’s data centre operators must also continue their focus on the green agenda, adds AIMS Group.

"We need to think hard about IT power usage not just to reduce power consumption, but how to cope with the 'Big Data' explosion of data in this digital era," added Chiew. "Organisations cannot spend unlimited money to host their data, applications and services at data centre facilities."

AIMS currently runs two data centres, in Kuala Lumpur and Cyberjaya, and intends to expand with two more data centres in Cyberjaya and Johor Bahru. It has attained the ISO 27001:2005 certification from the British Standards Institution (BSI) in 2010.
