Emerson Network Power has launched its SmartCabinet solution in Malaysia, which also now signals its immediate availability through Southeast Asia, said the critical infrastructure solutions provider.
Hitesh Prajapati, senior director of strategic accounts in Asia & Malaysia country manager for Emerson Network Power, said that SmartCabinet has been designed for small computer rooms with limited floor space.
Speaking of the solution's effectiveness for Malaysian organisations, Prajapati said: "Malaysia's business organisations are faced with continued data explosion, which put pressure on their data centre's physical infrastructure."
"Without proper solutions in place, these high density compute loads can lead to overheating and eventually costly shutdowns," he said.
"Intelligent, integrated infrastructures such as the SmartCabinet addresses these challenges while providing significant gains in energy efficiency, space utilisation and bottom-line costs."
"With its compact yet fully-integrated design, the SmartCabinet improves reliability, availability and remote management while significantly cutting speed of deployment, resulting in better savings," said Prajapati.
He said the SmartCabinet comprised a single rack, meets all the requirements of a traditional data centre, by combining power protection, thermal management, power distribution unit, and infrastructure management and monitoring in a simple packaged solution.
Prajapati said SmartCabinet would be pre-configured, pre-installed, and factory-tested to ensure system compatibility and was ready to use from day one.
Speed of deployment
"The SmartCabinet eliminates the need to build complex computer rooms, which dramatically improves the speed of system deployment compared to the traditional build approach," he said.
Included in the solution, Emerson's advanced online double conversion rack-mounted uninterruptible power supply (UPS) will provide the highest-level of protection within the cabinet to guarantee sustainable and stable operations, said Prajapati.
"It also comes with a built-in rack-mounted air conditioning system, allowing cold/hot air to circulate within the rack for better temperature and humidity control while operating 24/7," he said. "The integrated thermal management solution inside the rack provides 100 percent protection against dust, significantly reducing the risk of equipment breakdowns and expanding the lifespan of the IT equipment."
"The solution's built-in monitoring system allows users to efficiently monitor the status of their critical equipment even while off-site," he added. "In the event of a system failure, users will be notified through an SMS or email alert. The solution also has a uniquely-designed emergency cooling fan that expels hot air in the event of a system breakdown, ensuring that it remains running while waiting for maintenance personnel to arrive on-site."
