Digital Realty collaborates with SGIX and BlueTel networks

The alliance enables Digital Realty to offer its clients greater and more cost-effective connectivity options in Singapore, and allows SGIX and BlueTel Networks to grow its customer/membership base.

Digital Realty Trust today announced its collaboration with the Singapore Internet Exchange (SGIX) — a not-for profit, open and neutral Internet Exchange —and BlueTel networks, a facilities based operator that provides local loop and backhaul connectivity for carrier-neutral data centres.

The alliance includes an agreement to site a neutral peering point in Digital Realty's Singapore data centre in the west of Singapore in addition to SGIX's two existing peering points in the east. "As the demand for a more open Internet Exchange environment grows, we are pleased to offer our clients an enhanced and alternate connectivity point in the west of Singapore," said Kris Kumar, senior vice president and Asia Pacific regional head at Digital Realty.  By having peering points on both sides of the country, the overall performance of the Internet in Singapore can be enhanced.

Through this partnership, Digital Realty will be able to offer its clients greater and more cost-effective connectivity options in Singapore.

For SGIX, the collaboration will enable the "growth of enhanced Internet services in Singapore." It will also "add to the diversity of the membership base of SGIX" with international content providers and operators coming onboard, said Patrick Scodeller, chairman of SGIX.

According to Wee Woon Tian, managing director of BlueTel Networks, the collaboration will allow the company to grow its customer base and provide cost-effective solutions for both the connectivity to SGIX and other Carrier Neutral sites.
