According to 1-Net, this partnership helps to create an opportunity for its customers to leverage BT’s City Fibre Network, which provides wider network coverage across different data centres regionally.

1-Net announced yesterday the extension of its partnership with British telecommunications company BT, to offer data centre services to their global customers at 1-Net North.

1-Net North is an upcoming data centre that is slated to be operational by the first quarter of 2016. This new facility will include advanced security features, round-the-clock secured access control, perimeter fencing and bomb blast proof concrete wall. All mission critical systems within the facilities are configured to facilitate concurrent repair, maintenance and even replacement without disruption to essential business operations.

With the launch of 1-Net North, its customers can drive better business performance through an interconnected data centre network that is built for an increasingly digitised economy. This will enable customers to transfer large amount of data between different data centres, not only in Singapore but also in the region.

In a media statement, 1-Net said that this partnership helps to create an opportunity for its customers to leverage BT's City Fibre Network, which provides wider network coverage across different data centres regionally.

"Highly secure and resilient data centres lie at the heart of our Cloud of Clouds vision, helping our customers take advantage of the flexibility and cost efficiency Cloud offers. At BT, we go one step further by combining our network infrastructure and Cloud services with our expertise and know how, providing customers with end-to-end solutions to help them succeed in the global marketplace," said Wong Wai Meng, Vice President, BT Advise, Asia, Middle East & Africa at BT Global Services.

"We've spoken to both potential and existing customers in the market, and recognise the need for a higher density deployment in a highly secured data center. 1-Net North is designed and built to address this demand which is lacking in the market now. Over the past few months, we have made several announcements on our Data Center Corridor vision, which is aligned with BT's strategy to connect data centres in cities regionally. This will strengthen our connectivity efforts to attract more customers to 1-Net North," added Wong Ka Vin, Managing Director of 1-Net.
