Video collaboration for today’s mobile workforce

Lee Chong-Win, Managing Director, ASEAN, Avaya | Oct. 24, 2014
Not only does video help boost productivity and lower operational costs (including significant reductions in travel time and cost), on demand video collaboration creates higher levels of engagement, allowing for effective information exchange and smarter decision making processes.

3. Simplicity of solution management and administration:
IT managers are devoting more attention than ever to new ways of simplifying systems management and administration. Predefined templates simplify desktop management and speed deployment, an advanced capability in addition to general management applications that come with most communications and collaboration solutions. To ease administration, consider browser-based tools for managing parameters such as user profiles, dial plans, network routing policies, and security. Downtime, particularly for large enterprises, can be costly. Imagine the time and opportunity costs saved with fast and easy set up that is achieved in less a minute with six simple steps. Streamlining administration could result in time savings of up to 75 percent over approaches that are more cumbersome.

Video collaboration is transforming the way companies do business. In deploying our own technology at Avaya wehave seen that dramatic change first hand. Each month we now host on average around 40,000 video calls bringing together well over 300,000 participants. People are more engaged - as a picture is worth a thousand words. Teamwork has increased - especially with co-workers in different locations. Our people can access the same video capabilities from the office, their home, the airport, a hotel, the back of a taxi or a customer's site. Our decision-making speed has accelerated dramatically. We are communicating more effectively with our customers and partners. And we have saved money, time and the environment in reducing travel - decreasingour total travel miles by 44 percent in less than 2 years (which represents 1,777 times around the world and millions of dollars saved)  andlowering our total CO2 emissions by 46 percent (some 8,768 metric tons) in the same period.
