UBS opens up business intelligence opportunities with NoSQL database

UBS has improved its ability to query its regulatory data using a NoSQL database, opening up the potential for using the information for business intelligence purposes.

The storage tiering approach has also allowed the IT department to provide the wider business with options on cost and performance.

"There is a differential in the storage performance, and we can visibly show to the business and the people looking at cost that we are being sensible with our costing. But we can also have the conversation about the performance levels they want to see and if they want to flex that for business reasons then we can also respond to that."
