To meet the challenge of tight margins in an uncertain global economy, Malaysian rubber glove firm Top Glove has signed with ERP provider SAP and IT implementer Brightree Solutions to effect an IT transformation.
"As we expand our business, Top Glove's existing IT operations systems have certain limitations in capturing all the information from our business processes," said Top Glove chairman Tan Sri Lim Wee Chai.
"With information separated from the operation, we are unable to fully utilise our data for analytics and decision making," said Lim. "This has hindered the potential for growth as information was siloed and the operations were decentralised."
"Furthermore, the traditional approach has presented challenges in terms of corporate governance hence increased exposure to corporate and governance risk," said Lim. "SAP is the market leader in business application software and has been known as the leading ERP [enterprise resource planning] software provider, therefore, selecting them as our business partner is the natural way to go."
"The myTGSAP Project is an enterprise wide ERP implementation to fully integrate all the information silos within Top Glove, to have a unified and integrated view of information in a single standard platform," he said. "The goal is to provide managers with actionable information so they can analyse strategic options and take intelligent data-based action, ranging from business operation, product development, sourcing to transportation, human resources and investments."
"The collected data can be fully traced and analysed to provide decision makers with real-time insight. This will increase automation in operation and minimise manual intervention, increase compliance and lower risk; ultimately allowing employees to focus on quality, efficient and value added activities," added Lim. "Top Glove's myTGSAP project with SAP and Brightree aims to go live in the second half of 2013."
SAP Singapore and Malaysia managing director, Kowshik Sriman, said: "Analysing data is a good way for businesses to gain insights. By breaking the barriers of all the silos of information departments within an organisation and placing them in a single platform, we help Top Glove to gain valuable insights for decision making; and help the company to run better as a whole. We are proud of our collaboration with Top Glove, who - like ourselves - as the market leader in our respective industry, has put forth strong commitment to keep inventing and strive further in bringing higher value to our stakeholders."
