Tesco financial misreporting 'nothing to do with me', says company's big data head

Antony Savvas | Oct. 23, 2014
Tesco's Andy Ruckley talks about how agile development with help from Teradata helped resolve numerous big data issues.

Tesco brought in developers, data analysts and architects from Teradata and WhereScape for the duration, with Ruckley saying his own team has now learnt from them. "We were the first in the Tesco IT function to do agile, and it was an exciting way of working for my team - it is rewarding for creative people," he said.

Asked by ComputerworldUK as to whether his data systems were anything to do with the Tesco sales forecasting problem, which is still under investigation by the company, Ruckley said: "That's something to do with a financial reporting system and nothing to do with me."
