A Taiwanese manufacturer for industrial rubber products has turned to Dimension Data for its IP telephony upgrade project.
The company wanted to add new capabilities to improve efficiency and optimise collaboration between its factories and administrative offices in Asia Pacific.
Dimension Data thus developed a plan that includes pre-launch testing and creating a solution based on Cisco collaboration technologies. It then implemented the Cisco Business Edition 7000 (BE7000) across the rubber firms' five sites in Taiwan, China and Thailand.
The project also saw voice gateway migration, server virtualisation, Jabber instant messaging being rolled out for mobile users, and the development of a private Cisco WebEx Meeting Centre.
Through the use of Jabber and WebEx, the rubber firm enabled mobility and improved collaboration among its staff, external partners and customers. The new IP telephony platform is also scalable, less complex and easier to manage.
As such, the platform is well on the way of achieving the project's end goals of increasing team productivity and lowering costs. "Even though the project is not fully completed, the client is already seeing savings in a host of areas, such as international calls and travel expenses," said Frank Liao, General Manager at Dimension Data Taiwan
