IT solutions provider NEC Corporation of Malaysia's Innovation Solutions Fair, held recently in Kuala Lumpur, featured more than 30 solutions for realising a more sustainable and secure society.

"Technology continues to progress and its adoption can spur change in communities and further lift the well-being of people " said Andrew Lee, managing director, NEC Corporation of Malaysia, during the opening of the event at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur.

Lee said NEC was holding the fair, themed 'Creating value in the hyperconnected society', in Malaysia for the first time.

He said the solutions on display showed the company's latest technological breakthroughs for realising a more sustainable and secure society leveraging the power of innovation through public safety, cybersecurity, smart energy, carrier network and enterprise solutions. Other areas included data centres, cloud solutions, and smart retail.

NEC initiatives in delivering 'Solutions for Society' were focused on values such as safety, security, efficiency, and equality, all of which are essential to create a more sustainable and secure society, said Lee.

As part of NEC's Public Safety offerings, NEC Malaysia recently launched intelligent transportation solutions using big data analytics to manage key public transportation infrastructure such as highways, railways and bus networks, which will also be featured at the exhibition.

"Working closely with our customers and business partners, NEC will continue to innovate and provide a comprehensive portfolio of technologies and solutions to solve the issues faced by the society today in Malaysia," added Lee.

The agenda featured speakers such as YB Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau, minister of Science Technology & Innovation (MOSTI), His Excellency Dr Makio Miyagawa ambassador of Japan in Malaysia, and Ybhg. Datuk Ismail Ibrahim, chief executive of the Iskandar Regional Development Authority, and Dr Nobuhiro Endo, president of NEC Corporation.
