Siemens PLM technologies have sped up the design process for Streetscape, a street furniture manufacturing organisation based in Tauranga, New Zealand.
Solid Edge has helped increase productivity in all areas - from concept design and assembly modeling to production drawings and sometimes, renderings.
Prior to the implementation, the furniture manufacturer used other CAD software for digital design and fabrication solutions.
The company decided to implement Solid Edge after reviewing other options in the market and began to use Solid Edge in its day-to-day operations for immediate improvements to the business and to speed up the design process.
"I've had numerous experiences with different CAD & CAM packages, but Solid Edge won me over with its powerful and easy-to-use features and functions," said Sean Creswell, manager - Design Office, Streetscape Limited. "Besides increased productivity, the other benefit we got from using Solid Edge is the ability to reuse design data."
Reducing design errors
The Solid Edge system has also helped Streetscape's design and sales team to reduce design errors, which were a big problem for their prior design modelling where they had to do a lot of rework.
The design and sales team is now leveraging Solid Edge 3D modelling to visualise and scrutinise every aspect of the products before manufacturing and thus, eliminating rework by 25 percent.
Besides that, Siemens PLM's Solid Edge 3D monthly subscription model helped Streetscape to invest wisely, allowing the company's cash flow to support other aspects of the business.
Streetscape found the online ordering process and software setup to be extremely simple. The team could finish the setup process within 30 minutes.
"I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of the entire procedure, and the immediate support offered. The procedure was effortless," added Creswell. "The team was able to increase our design resources with immediate effect, and without the upfront investment which helped us tremendously on the financial end."
