It is also important to note that traditional or existing data governance framework may not take into account "secondary analytics information", or information that resulted from the fuse of multiple data sources through analytics. Such information or data are typically more sensitive than the original base data. As such, data governance framework needs to be enhanced to reflect the new needs, especially those of big data.
While techniques and methodologies exist today to align data from disparate sources and formats and analyse them for a singular purpose, and at the same time ensure privacy of data, one other challenge remains: the limited talent pool and integration of analytics skills and competence in the organisation. For now, this is a wider talent issue that needs to be addressed locally but with external capabilities available, leading organisations are not letting this hamper their pursuit of data-enlightened growth.
